The author

Agnes Trosse is a journalist, author, translator and specialist book editor, and works as an academic barockriding coach. She is particularly interested in the history of academic riding in Europe and is fascinated by the elegance and intelligence of the Lusitano horse and the traditional equestrian culture of Portugal.

Agnes Trosse was supported on site by Lisa Maas, who originally had the idea of writing a book about the historic places associated with the Lusitano. Lisa has lived in Portugal since 2017 and breeds Lusitanos there herself. She knows the country and its people, and has valuable insider knowledge that she loves to share.

The preface was written by Dr José Veiga Maltez.

Dr José Veiga Maltez is a Lusitano horse breeder himself and comes from one of Portugal's most important families of horse breeders. For over 25 years, he was the mayor of Golegã, Portugal's equine capital. He was also an assistant professor of geriatrics at the Lisbon Medical School and is currently president of the Portuguese Association for the Breeding of Selected Breeds (APCRS) and president of the national Equestrian Tourism Association (ANTE).
